About National Capital Blues Foundation

Sports. Mentorship. Opportunity.

Weโ€™re an Ottawa-based nonprofit supporting at-risk youth from diverse backgrounds through access to sports, caring mentorship, and resilience-building programs.

Why we exist

Too many young people face barriers to belonging, cost, transportation, confidence, and lack of support. We partner with families, mentors, and the community to create safe spaces where youth can build skills, friendships, and a sense of possibility.

Our mission

Increase knowledge and support youth development

Our mission is to advance knowledge and support the development of youth through accessible programs in literacy, leadership, and physical activity.

We offer free and low-cost initiatives, including youth writing contests, bursary-supported recognition events, and inclusive sports programs, that foster learning, confidence, and resilience in young people, particularly those facing barriers.

Reduce barriers to participation

Build confidence through routine and teamwork

Create supportive, youth-centered spaces

How we do it

Programs that build resilience and leadership

At the National Capital Blues Foundation, our approach centers on using education, creative expression, and physical activity to support the well-being of youth.

We deliver accessible programs, including free sports training, literacy development through writing contests, and educational bursaries, to empower young people, especially those from underserved communities.

By working collaboratively with local partners and listening to the needs of families, we ensure our programs are inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in community.

What we believe

Every young person deserves a chance to thrive

We celebrate diverse backgrounds and meet youth where they are, focusing on strengths, belonging, and long-term opportunity.

Belonging comes first

Growth is a team effort

Opportunity should be accessible

Our story

Built in the community, for the community

National Capital Blues Foundation was created to make sure youth in Ottawa have more than a place to play, they have a place to belong.

Weโ€™ve seen what happens when a young person has one consistent adult in their corner, a team that expects them to show up, and a program that treats them with dignity. That combination can change the way they see themselves and what they believe is possible.

โ€œWhen youth feel supported, they take healthy risks, trying out, speaking up, showing up again. Thatโ€™s where growth begins.โ€
